I just **** to see him go again. ONE newscast!? C’mon! For all our troubles. we need a man to split the whole stories, 1-by-1, down the middle. We need this guy sitting down WXYZ’s newsdesk through the worst, best, and all of the times. I know, he may feel a bit rusty, but hold on until the crisis is over, and either he can leave, or he can stay for long./

Just asking… did Bill Bonds ever rake Bill or Hillary over the coals during their occupation of the White House?

Bill Bonds was all Detroit. Just like Detroit, he had rough edges but was all heart. He had virtually no bullshit underneath his suit and tie. Compare that to the plastic, careerist broadcasters who dominate the radio today.
Bill Bonds is a true Detroit legend and one of the Detroit TV greats. Bill, thank you, sir, for all your great contributions to Detroit.

From somebody raised in Detroit who left the city in 1993, I will never forget Bill Bonds. Yes, he had his personal issues, but that made him more real, imho. He wasn’t like the plastic careerist broadcasters you see today. Most of all, he was all Detroit — with all Detroit’s rough edges, sure, but also a great love for the people and the city. Bill Bonds, God bless you and have a good one, sire. David Leinweber

I agree with you scotchrks, People from Detroit are unique in many ways and sometimes we need someone to say it straight forward! But it was so refreshing to have someone not just reading the news. We like our news like our hockey games “AGGRESSIVE!” Channel 7 never been the same without Bill! Imagine a Bill Bonds reporting from the WHITE HOUSE everynight! The Bush Administration would have flipped out!

Where have all the great anchormen gone? I grew up with Bill Bonds as a kid, because my father insisted on it everyday at 5:00. Because like Bill, my father was also a straight shooter. Detroit may remember Bill’s no nonsence way about him, some may call it arrogence, but Detroit needed that at the time, and perhaps more so today. That’s why he made channel 7 the TOP of all network news in the city. Maybe Detroit needs more of Bill Bonds telling us the way it TRUELY is! WAY ahead of his time!

I disagree with you madman3,watching the newscast he did something that hasn’t been done in any broadcast nes in a while, He engaged the reporter and asked hard questions!Bill Bond should be teaching young students in college! I don’t want my reporters being PR men for canidates and big business. I want them to be independent and aggressive! How many people know thatGeorge Bush bought 99,000 in Paraguay! What happened to the news on that!

Beautifully speaking Mr. Bonds. A wonderful talent. ***** the past demons, haven’t we all regrets? Bill Bonds was not just big in Detroit, he had a national presence. He represented Detroit. He spoke for the average Joe. Bill Bonds, thanks for being one of the best anchormen Detroit ever had. As to his retractors, ***** you>

I found it to be sad and pathetic actually. Bringing back the ****** alcoholic anchorman who looked (and sounded) a little lit to bring back the glory days for a night. I guess the media will do anything for ratings. They should have let him continue to pitch furniture stores and law offices. His time has passed.
